What is "Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RSI)" Software?
With each passing day, It has been shown that computer accessories becoming more improved, fast and useful. Fat machines are becoming smarter and faster. This article reflects an overview on Intel Rapid Storage Technology
application.
Intel
Rapid Storage Technology offers features that improve performance and data
reliability for disk-intensive retrieval applications such as editing home
video.
RAID-enabled
systems:
Intel
Rapid Recover Technology - This technology offers complete data redundancy by copying data from a
designated source drive (i.e., primary disk) to a designated destination drive
(i.e., recovery disk). Data updates for recovery volumes may be ongoing or upon
request.
Intel
Rapid RAID - This technology enables the creation of RAID 0, RAID
1, RAID 5, and RAID 10 volumes on desktop and mobile platforms. Data is split
into two or more disks to provide redundancy or increase data storage
efficiency.
Intel
Matrix RAID Technology - This
technology allows two independent RAID volumes to be created on a single array.
The first volume occupies part of the array, leaving space for the second
volume. The array may consist of two to six SATA disks depending on the
volume types. Intel allows the user to combine the benefits
of two RAID volumes in a single RAID array. The two RAID volumes can consist of the same or different RAID levels.
Native
command queuing -
A feature that allows SATA disks to accept more than one command
at a time. When used in conjunction with one or more disks that support NCQ,
storage performance is increased on random workloads by allowing the disk to
internally optimize the order of commands.
Disk
capacity greater than two terabytes (if that size is supported by the option
ROM) –This feature provides support for hard disks and
solid-state drives with a capacity greater than 2 TB that are reported as
pass-through devices (available) or used in a RAID configuration. In addition,
booting from a system disk greater than 2 TB is allowed as long as the version
of the option ROM in your system supports this feature.
Password-protected disks – The most required
feature which provides users high-level security and protection for the data on
disks with a password, denying access from any unauthorized user.
AHCI-enables systems:
AHCI(Advanced Host Controller
Interface) is an interface specification that automatically allows the storage
driver to enable advanced SATA features, such as Native Command Queuing and
Native Hot Plug on the SATA disks connected to your computer. The following
features are supported on AHCI-enabled systems:
ü Native command queuing

about this technology, let us know the answers to the most frequently asked
questions on the Internet.
I Should Intel Rapid Storage
Technology be on?
Intel Rapid Storage: Aims to increase performance,
especially if your primary disk is HDD instead of an SSD. However, it works
with both, so it's okay to set it on.
Does Intel Rapid Storage
Technology work with SSD?
The answer is yes, but for better
performance you need to install IRST a driver.
If
you want to squeeze every bit of performance out of your SSD you need to
install the IRST driver.
What is a SATA disc drive?
SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) was introduced in 2003. Mostly
it is used as default interface in desktop and laptop hard drives.
What is Intel Rapid Storage Technology
SSD?
Intel Smart Response Technology is an Intel (Intel® RST) Rapid storage technology. This technology is
a caching functionality which improves the computer system.
Does Intel Rapid Storage
Technology work with Windows 10?
As we all know that "Intel rapid storage technology" is created by Intel instead
of Microsoft, but Intel sends software updates
of Intel rapid storage technology to Microsoft to
include in Windows 10. Only the retail build of windows 10 is
supported, so currently this is built 10586.
Is Intel Rapid
Storage Technology is a better choice?
If we look into non-RAID systems, the RST is
essentially an alternate SATA AHCI controller. According to Intel,
it enhances the performance and power management (for the hard disks).it also
has beautiful interface for users to know the disk information and status. As
such, it isn't essential.
